Light Rail Maintenance and Repairs
UPDATE: November 22, 2024
On November 20, RTD has lifted all southbound speed restrictions between University of Denver and Colorado stations. E and H line trains have once again resumed normal speeds along this outbound section of the Southeast Corridor. The 10 mile-per-hour speed restrictions were first implemented in early June and remained in place until necessary maintenance work could be completed by staff.
Over the last week, RTD's Maintenance of Way (MOW) staff installed more than 100 feet of rail along the E, H, and R lines. Staff also worked defects through ballast distribution and tamping. Due to this work, the speed restriction between Nine Mile and Dayton stations was shortened. In the coming week, staff will continue to specifically focus on the Southwest Corridor (D Line) and Parker Road Corridor (R Line).
It is also important to note that, while the map below shows speed restrictions going the full length between light rail stations, the actual length of slow zones do not run the entirety of the sections outlined in the illustration.
Maintenance and Repairs
Preventative maintenance and isolated track repairs are currently underway along the Southeast Corridor. As repairs are made, speed restrictions will continue to be lifted. The resumption of normal train speeds is dependent on how quickly repairs are made to the isolated sections of track.
Maintenance schedules are subject to change, and timelines will be updated to reflect any necessary schedule adjustments.

Speed Restrictions
Light rail speed restrictions are in place for D, E, H, and R line trains traveling along the Southeast Corridor. The 10 mile-per-hour speed restrictions were implemented on June 4 and will be in place until crews complete the necessary preventative maintenance.
